Tornado Poster Contest
The Oconee County Emergency Services is sponsoring the annual Tornado Safety Poster Contest. The contest is open to all students in grades 1-5 in any Oconee County school. There will be winners and runners-up at each grade level and a grand prize winner. Winners from each grade level will be chosen by a committee of judges during the period of February 24, 2021 through February 26, 2021. Schools with winners will be notified during the period of March 1st-5th, 2021. Certificates and cash prizes will be presented at the Awards Ceremony held on Thursday, March 9, 2021 starting at 10:00 am in the Council Chambers. Entries should be submitted on standard poster paper (22" x 28"). The student's name, grade level and school name should be clearly printed in ink on the back of the poster for easy identification. Only one entry per student and no joint entries (by more than one person) will be accepted. Entries will not only be judged on the artistic aspect but must also emphasize the theme of "Tornado Safety" by depicting proper protective actions. Each entry will be judged on originality, message, impact, and effort. Schools are encouraged to participate: however, any eligible student may submit an entry regardless of whether his or her school officially participates in the contest. Entries should be submitted to the office of Emergency Services no later than February 19, 2021. Once students have finished their posters they may bring them to the main office--Make sure your first and last name, grade level, and school name is clearly printed in ink on the back! |
Candygrams for Yearbooks
We have been extremely fortunate over the last few years to provide a free yearbook for all of our students here at JMB. This is all possible thanks to fundraising, donations, and a lot of dedication from our JMB families, our staff, and our community. This year we would like to continue the tradition of giving all students a free yearbook. You can help us raise money to support this cause by purchasing a Candy Gram from February 8-12. A Candy Gram is a lollipop with a short message attached. The Candy Grams will be $1 each. Buy one for your friends, classmates, students, and teachers! They will be delivered Monday, February 15, since Valentine's Day is on Sunday they year. All Covid protocols will be followed to ensure faculty and student safety. Proceeds from the Candygram sales will go to our Yearbook fundraising. If you are interested in purchasing Candy Grams please send your payment to your child teachers. Thanks for helping our students! |

Attendance & Absence Excuses
Please remember that your child's attendance in school and for SDOC@Home students is critical for his/her success. If your child is absent for any reason, PLEASE SEND A NOTE to the school for documentation. It is best to have a note from a doctor's office or medical provider if a child is absent for sickness. |
